When Life Gets Tough... (Part 2)
Edit: update here! https://charischong.blogspot.com/2021/03/skin-update-march-2021.html
It's been awhile. :)
I believe it has been a few months since I wrote about my skin condition - the really bad eczema. So I think it's time to praise God for some things and shed some light about this whole HARROWING experience.
Let me just warn you, there will be graphic images, so if you're REALLY squeamish, do watch out yeah? :)
So, a few months back, I started getting really severe eczema - red spots that would spontaneously show up on my legs. They were rather itchy, I always seemed to scratch them in the middle of the night. Also, when I squeezed them, water-ish pus-ish liquids seem to ooze out of them. They looked like this:
The red spots are indeed open wounds.
Close up, they looked like this:
Looking at my photos really give me the heebie jeebies. I honestly can't believe I endured all that...
Anyways, I went to the National Skin Centre (NSC), I went to other doctors who were supposedly famed for being great with skin.
The doctor at the NSC told me I had discoid eczema and gave me an opportunity to get my blood checked to see if it was anything internal. So, I took a blood test and when the results came out, I learnt that I had an exceedingly high amount of IgE in my blood - while normal people had 80+ (I have no clue what measurement) of IgE, I had 3976 IgE. (If you haven't a clue what IgE is, I am incapable of telling you a proper definition, so I shall let Wikipedia help me out. Here's the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immunoglobulin_E)
Trust me, when I heard the news, I was in shock! I kept telling the people around me I was an alien cause I felt so different from normal people. Well, the doctor told me that the high amount of IgE in my blood was the reason why my skin was so sensitive and eczema was perfectly normal for me.
Err.. Okay.
So he just gave me steroids as usual. Every skin doctor will give their eczema patient steroids.
I took the steroids, and some spots seemed to go away, but for the big spots, nothing happened. In fact, they seemed to grow bigger and get worse. (I seriously want to dissuade people from going to the NSC for eczema, maybe other skin conditions even. :/)
I was distraught, depressed, emotionally a wreck. I would constantly ask my mother and Alvin why such things were happening to me. I'd cry and cry, and pray and pray.
By God's grace, my mother found out about a very special treatment that turned my situation around:
Healing Resonance.
Healing Resonance is a Bio-Resonance Therapy Centre. I really can't explain much about how it works, so please bear with me! I engaged the lady who started Healing Resonance - Jovie, and discovered a lot about my body. On my first session, I learnt that I was allergic to wheat and dairy. Never in my life had I known I was allergic to foods containing wheat and dairy - I love bread, cheese, pasta, biscuits, milk tea! I was terribly sad, but I stopped eating foods that contained wheat, dairy, and preservatives.
Instead, I was instructed to eat tons of fruits and vegetables, drink fresh juice (not from a carton) twice a day, and eat about 20 pills of supplements a day. It was CRAZAY. But, I was desperate, and I did it! I also had to go for treatment once a week and stop taking steroids COMPLETELY. She warned me that things would get ugly - she told me, "You'll be less pretty for a few weeks." Hahaha! And trust me, things got UGLY. I got UUUGLY.
You see, before all the treatment started, I had a period of time where I was independent, dealing with even worse eczema and steroid withdrawal symptoms.
Here are some photos (Get ready):
As you can tell, the eczema got a lot worse. Red patches were everywhere, they were itchy, ugly, and painful.
During this period of independence, I also suffered from steroid withdrawal symptoms. I started swelling a lot. I was always so prideful that my face was never affected by bad skin. Boy was I wrong.
My face was also exceptionally red and patchy. It totally "boosted" my self esteem too.
During the period of independence from steroids and treatment, I made a trip to Taiwan as well. I ended up suffering cause I couldn't sweat, and looked like this:
When I got back from Taiwan, my skin started peeling, badly..
Okay, but! Here is where things got BETTER! I went for my first Bio-Resonance Therapy treatment. Subsequently, and thank God Almighty, the swelling, peeling, and eczema subsided. :)
By this time, I had forgotten how I looked like normally. It sounds extreme, I know. But it's true. I was so used to waking up with swollen eyes and a patchy face, when I looked normal, I could not believe it was me. :)
As the weeks went by, I gradually got better - without steroids, but with a good diet and Bio-Resonance Therapy Treatment. I still have many scars, truly. I still have aunties staring at my legs cause of the dark patches of previous spots, but I thank God that I'm no longer experiencing such a terrible ordeal. Also, Jovie says they'll go away in due time. :)
Through this ordeal, I've learnt a few things:
Truly, looks may come and go, but what's most important is who we are on the inside. Vanity is worthless. We have to have beautiful hearts and be beautiful people through our character. As 1 Peter 3:3-4 says,"Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight."
Also, it is important to have faith and patience. Faith in God, that He is more than able and willing to heal. Faith that God has a great purpose for whatever you're going through now. Faith that everything happens for a reason. :) Patience that God will make everything beautiful in His time.
To all of you who have eczema or any other skin condition and want to get completely healed, please:
1. Stop taking steroids. Steroids are toxic, they do not help the skin at all. They may be a temporary help, but truly, they are not doing the skin any good. How do we expect to get better if we continue to apply poison on our skin? :)
2. Check out Healing Resonance.
This is their website: http://www.healingresonance.com.sg
Eczema and other skin conditions tend to be linked to our diets and internal organs. So, if you really want to find out the root of the problem, do make enquiries at Healing Resonance. I've gone through all the treatments and have seen my skin condition improve tremendously. There is absolutely no pain involved and each session takes a mere 25 minutes. :)
This being said, I also really want to thank the people around me who have been so encouraging and caring!! <3
To the people who have personally texted/messaged me, thank you very much. To the people who commented on the previous blog post, I appreciate the comments. To the people who have prayed for me, God has heard ya'll! Thank you so much. :)
(If you're wondering why my family isn't here, they don't read my blog. HAHAHA.)
And finally, it is over. :)
To God alone be the glory.
To God alone be the praise. <3

2018 UPDATE: If you're keen on trying out bio-resonance treatment, I've got a better recommendation! (Don't go to Healing Resonance.) You can check this page out for more details:

The answer is, yes, I did. My confidence was at level zero, but I did. :)

Hi Charis,
ReplyDeleteI came across your blog when I was searching for other ways to heal my boy's eczema. It has been a rather heartbreaking journey and there is no light at the end of this tunnel at all.
I have heard a lot about bioresonance, positive and negative. Hence I would like to find out more about the pricing and the procedures from you. May I know how long does it take for your eczema to heal completely? Are you experiencing any more flares after that?
Thank you for your reply.
So very inspirational. It's amazing how you can stay loyal and trusting to God despite all these challenges. I'm sure He's very proud of you Charis! Praise the Lord for your recovery :)
ReplyDeleteIt's been 2 years, is everything fully cleared out now?
ReplyDeleteI'm posting because i suddenly have eczema on my feet which is itchy, oozing n sometimes painful. Doctors will only prescribe steroid cream n claim there's no cure, just keep applying to keep the symptoms away. But i already knew the dangers of steroid cream, so i applied lightly for awhile hoping for a cure then I'll stop. the eczema disappeared, then i stopped n it came back n flared up worse than before.
Other parts of my body began to have rashes after i stopped the steroid cream. So the cream is actually making things worse.
This time, i didn't apply steroid cream, and trying to work things out n find a permanent cure.
I think the reasons for eczema are different from person to person, but inflammation is actually a natural body response to fight the bad things, if inflammation doesn't clear up on its own we should seek permanent treatment, but western medicine says there's no cure for eczema n will only prescribe steroid cream which doesn't tackle the root cause n only stops the imflammation response temporarily which is stopping the body trying to fight the bad things.
Hi Charis
ReplyDeleteI came across your blog when i was googling about healing resonance. I am currently undergoing treatment with Jovie (2nd session). I did flare out a lot a lot and it was ugly. Can I find out from you how did you cope during your treatment with Jovie?

DeleteHi anyone going through resonance now and when can u see improvement? We are at the 6th session and I only see it flare even more.. Its quite depressing and confidence level is going low. I need advice.
