Why It's Great to be "A Good Girl"

First and foremost, exams are finally over!  THANK GOD.  YAY.

They just ended on Wednesday night, so the first thing I did was to hit the clubs at Clarke Quay - hey, it was ladies night you know?  ;)  Obviously, I'm just kidding.  What I really did was have dinner with Alvin along the area.  We walked around after and the environment we were in really struck a thought in me:

"These girls look so gorgeous!  I've never stepped into a club.  I wonder what it's like...  My mom would kill me if I ever dressed like that!  It looks like fun…"   

I've been envious of girls who party, I've always asked my boyfriend what it was like to party hearty.  It's true, I've never stepped into a club.  I don't drink alcohol.  I've never said a bad word in my life. People have labelled me as "a girl who stays home all the time" - someone reserved with not much of a "life".  I guess in most people's eyes I'm seen as boring or unadventurous - "A Good Girl."  I'm not saying that other girls who know how to party are "bad girls" - absolutely not.  But "A Good Girl" is a common stereotype of girls like myself.  We're not hot, we're not labelled "fun", and we don't have a group of girlfriends we call "b*tches"…  Sometimes, it's pretty upsetting, but after awhile, I've come to realise it's perfectly fine!  And here's why:

1. We're a rarity. 

Not many girls can proudly say that they've never stepped into a club/owned a tight sexy black dress/bought alcohol/said a cuss word.  I mean, hey!  We're not boring.  We're one of a kind - a gem!  You may not believe it, but it's something to be proud of.  :)

2. We're "wife material"

Trust me, guys will be secure having a sweetheart like yourself.  They'll never have to worry about your behaviour in clubs.  They'll never be anxious about how you may be all over some other guy when you're drunk.  If the guy is looking for a serious relationship, you can be sure he'll know you're "girlfriend material" or even "wife material".  So that's another plus point for you, and your boyfriend/future partner! 

3. We value purity.

I'm pretty sure I can say we've never been groped by anyone within close range?  And we've never been in a messy-drunk situation?  And I'm pretty confident that we've never had excessive physical contact with random strangers?  We know that it's important to not get the wrong attention - be it through our actions or the way we dress.  We know that carrying ourselves properly and being lady-like involves being pure in our actions, and that's something respectable.  

4. We think ahead.                                                                                                              

We know that "YOLO" may not be the best life motto.  People always say, "You're only young once, just try everything out!  Do whatever you want!  YOLO!"  (Okay, I made that sound really stupid.  Terribly sorry.  HAHA.)  Well…  Whatever actions we take now will have consequences in the future.  And sometimes, there are certain things in life that you truly don't need to experience.  We're able to understand that.

5. People see us for who we are.

We don't need to be immersed in the glitz and glamor of party life.  What people see in us is what they get.  They will see us for the morals we uphold, the values we express, our genuine personality and character.  We may be down to earth and labelled as "the girl next door", but I'm sure we are proud of who we are and acknowledge the joys of being "A Good Girl".  

So to all the girls who have been labelled "boring", "the girl next door", "homely", "the girl without a life", etc., I hope you guys feel better!  We know were more than all these labels.  We're definitely, beautifully and wonderfully created.  <3
